Sweaters have been a focused joy and interest in my work and life for many years. My intrigue with the category was first sparked while I was sweater intern at Betsey Johnson in 2008. I then spent a year getting first-hand design experience working with the Design Director at Ralph Lauren/RLX, JJ Collier on a variety of technical product as his design associate.
A year later, I was asked to return to Betsey Johnson for my first sweater design position. I very quickly built on my profound passion for sweaters and truly began my career in design. After a couple years at Betsey, I was recruited into the world of private label, designing sweaters for Jessica Simpson. Though brief, that experience broadened the scope of my expertise. Next, I was asked to lead design at Neve, a sweater-focused, lifestyle brand in Boulder, CO. During my time there, I evolved the collection from ski-specific to a more diverse assortment and complete collection and grew the business. Neve was a turning point in my career as I was responsible for many facets of the design and development process including concepting, calendar, line planning and product development. Most recently I was asked to join Spyder, where I have been instrumental in launching the brand’s sweater category.
Over these last 7 years, I have designed runway pieces for fashion week, reinvented an entire sweater brand, and launched sweaters for an otherwise technical-ski label. Additionally, I have driven sourcing projects for these companies in Asia, Europe and the US. My specific experience and ability to execute in design, development, merchandising and sourcing has made me a valuable asset to companies large and small. Where some see limitation, I see endless possibility in the realm of yarn and knitting. Although I am confident in my expertise, it constantly fascinates me that there will always be more to learn and discover in this specific product category.
